Florida Water Star
Formosa Gardens has qualified for Florida Water StarSM voluntary certification, a program for builders and developers designed to increase water efficiency in landscapes and irrigation systems, as well as indoors.
According to the South Florida Water Management District, requirements for Florida Water Star certification include:
- Micro-irrigation and mulch in plant beds.
- High-volume irrigation system limited to 50 percent of planted landscape area.
- High-performance, water-conserving appliances and fixtures.
- Points related to water quality issues for homes built near bodies of water.
- Landscapes with the right plant in the right place.
